SPI PHOTO ALBUM - Late Fall/Winter 2003
12/27/03 - Launch!
Local glider enthusiast Fred Mallett is caught in mid-launch on the beach in front of Wanna Wanna. Some sand sculpture was also created...
12/20/03 - Caught on Spi-Cam
Spi-cam is pointed at the Island from Fred's back yard today. Quite a view, hey? Fishing off the back dock and the house ain't bad, either. Best of all -- it could be yours! Furnished or un, by the month or by the season starting Feb. 1, 2003.
12/12/03 - Lighted Street Parade
We are pretty sure that this was the best SPI Christmas parade ever. congrats and many thanks to all who participated. (photo by Sharon Campbell.)
12/12/03 - Stretch Hummer on SPI
How many Stretch Humvees do you reckon there are in the world? At least one of them is right here on South Padre Island. If you have a perfect use for it in mind all you have to do is get in touch with Hash at A-1 Limo Service and he will doubtless fix you right up. (Be sure and tell him sandy feet sent you!) I wouldn't be too surprised if it makes a showing in tonight's lighted street parade...
12/06 Lighted Boat Parade
Fred, RayBo, Matt, Sharon and I had big fun in Capt. Fred's "Sweat Equity" in the lighted boat parade this year. We tried webcasting on spi-cam with (extremely) limited success. You can see more photos of this event here.
The Sons of the beach Sand Castle Wizards wrapped up a three day holiday sculpture build over at Island Inn yesterday with a big ol' Christmas tree. Many silly hats were worn, photos shot and fun had by all. Many thanks to the Island Inn and Wanna Wanna Beach Bar for hosting this event - we hope to do it again next year!
11/30 Tell It To Sandy Claus
Santa is waiting for you to come sit on his lap at Wanna Wanna ;-)Today, the SoB Sand Castle Wizards are planning on adding a Christmas tree to the 3 holiday-themed sand sculptures already standing. If you are someplace where it is cold and yucky out, you can watch our progress on spi-cam all day.
11/29 Toasty the SandMan Returns
Day two of the holiday sand sculptuure build at Island Inn/Wanna Wanna Beach is about to kick off. Yesterday's wind has laid down, the sun is shining and it looks like it will be a beautiful day to hit the beach. We will have the spi-cam set up on the WW deck so stop by and see what we are building today!
11/18 - After the "Cold Front"
Last night a front blew through and today is one of the finest days you can hope to see this time of year - mild, sunny and breezy. What's astounding is the sheer numbers of butterflies, moths and dragon flies that are bumbling around my flower beds in unbelievable swarms tight now. The above photo was shot with my cellphone camera mere inches away from the subject.
Okay, so it is not exactly new. Joe and Sandra have been baking - among other things - that yummy bread that gets wrapped around the fresh fillings at Psychadeli for a while now. But the pair have just opened up a store front for the rest of us who might want to buy fresh baked goods without having to cross the causeway. The brownies are to die for and I see a lot more hours on the elliptical in my future...
